Professionals in the field of Endocrine, Diabetes, and Metabolism

Who We Are

Maryland Endocrine, PA is a single specialty group practice specializing in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic disorders in adults, with an office in Columbia, Maryland. The practice was started in 1982 in Laurel, and expanded to Columbia in 1985. Our group currently provides expert outpatient consultative services to adult patients from a wide geographic area. We limit the scope of our practice to endocrine disorders and ask all our patients to have a primary care physician to attend to their non-endocrine related health care needs.

Medicare G6 Coverage

Attention Medicare patients using Dexcom- as of Oct 8th, you will be able to use Dexcom G6 CGM! Dexcom G6 CGM is an improved version of Dexcom CGM. The improvements on the prior version include: 10 day sensor duration, no Tylenol interference with the accuracy of the readings, a much easier insertion that is virtually painless and can be done with one hand, and most importantly, no requirement for finger stick calibration.
Current Medicare patients on the Dexcom G5 CGM will be able to upgrade to the Dexcom G6 when their current G5 transmitter, which has to be replaced every 90 days, is going to expire. They will be sent a G6 transmitter and supplies. None of the G5 supplies will work with the G6 except newer Touchscreen receivers, which need to be upgraded. To assist people with this exciting transition, Dexcom representative Adrienne Augustino (443-253-2094) will be doing training and assistance with upgrading or replacing the receiver or phone app.  Please note, if you have a T-Slim X2 pump, you will need to do training on the Basal IQ feature before downloading the T-Slim pump Basal IQ upgrade, which is required in order to use the Dexcom G6 with the T-Slim pump. That training can be arranged through T-Slim. The local representative for T-Slim is Tim Cooley (TCooley@tandemdiabetes.com mobile #(202) 841-4388 ).
To help our Medicare patients with this exciting transition, Adrienne Augustino (443-253-2094) will be in our office between noon and 4 pm on Fridays for the next several months. If you are interested, we will accept walk in’s but an appointment is preferred. The appointment should be made through Adrienne and not Maryland Endocrine, though the training will occur at our office. The training is free and involves no charge to you or your insurance.
